Today in Room 15 to go along with our inquiry into the rocky shore, we did a science experiment looking at what things Float and Sink that we could find around the school and classroom. Before we looked at the items to guess we had a group discussion about why we think things float and why they sink. We then got into a porohita and held each item as it was passed around. Each student had to make a guess if they thought it was going to sink or float, student filled in a sheet with their guesses for each item. There was some great discussions going on amongst the student for their reasons. Below is pictures trying out each of the items.
